Our Parish
Our parish is named after St. Francis of Assisi and St. Clare of Assisi, two very significant saints in the Catholic Church, both of them deeply and passionately in love with Jesus Christ, and wholeheartedly concerned for the salvation of souls.
Our patron saints embodied qualities of faith that our parish seeks to uphold as values;
-
Love for Jesus Christ, Who is the Incarnate Word, and the Eucharist – burning of passionate love for our Lord Jesus Christ, especially and really present in the Blessed Sacrament, which is the only way we can see, touch, kiss and savor Him here on earth.
-
Love for the Church – recognizing in her the Body of Christ, into Whose arms we desire to be held, and Whose wounds we desire to clean and heal.
-
Trust in God’s Providence – abandoning ourselves into the hands of our loving Father, Who always provides for His children, and taking responsibility for the resources we have been given, seeing as good stewards they are used for the benefit of all.
-
Fraternity - welcoming and supporting anyone as they were brothers or sisters.
-
Compassion - being examples of God's unconditional love in the world and bringing care and support to all those who are in need.
-
Contemplative gaze on God’s Creation – looking in awe at the gift of Creation where we can grasp God’s Presence, and that we want to preserve in its beauty.
Formed on January 1, 2020, our parish connects the four communities of North-West End Halifax;
St. Catherine of Siena's
St. Mother Teresa of Kolkata's
The unification under one parish has allowed to preserve the unique spiritual legacy of each community, not only preserving the beautiful and historic buildings, but allowing the community leadership to serve the specific needs of the four communities’ members, while sharing the resources that ensure there will be places for people to find faith and friendship in North End Halifax.
Our Vision
Our pastor and our leadership are currently collaborating to create the vision for our parish. Please pray that the Holy Spirit will continue to inspire them for the success of this work.
Our Mission
Support and strengthen each faith community, creating the opportunity to deepen our relationship with God in Jesus Christ and to build up our spiritual communion as disciples, brothers and sisters in Christ.
On this foundation we hope to provide a welcoming environment for everyone who seeks the peace and love that comes from those relationships, and to reach out to everyone who needs to hear the message of the Gospel, through evangelization and charity.
Our Community Leaders
Bringing together and serving in the four churches of North-West End Halifax is our dedicated team, made of many lay leaders who chose to share with our clergy the responsibility of the well-being and growth of each and all communities. Their dedication makes it possible for us to achieve our mission.
